Obituary, Greer-McElveen Funeral Home, Dec., 2018 Donald “Scott” Coffey, age 33, of Statesville passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018. He was born on July 10, 1985 to Donald Coffey, Jr. and Lora Hawkins Bierman in Lenoir, NC. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Gina Hawkins; and his grandfather, John Arnette. Scott loved to work on cars, specifically Honda’s. He was creative and artistic. The most captivating thing about him was his smile. When one thinks of him it is always there. He was outgoing and made friends with people everywhere life took him. He also had a generous spirit. He was always willing to help others who were in need. He is survived by his parents, Donald Odell Coffey, Jr. and wife Diana of Granite Falls and Lora Bierman and husband Jody of North Wilkesboro; step-father, Dewey Smith of Oakboro; sons, Ethan Scott Coffey of Jacksonville, NC and Isaac Payton Coffey of Granite Falls; grandparents, Janice Stewart of Lenoir, Don Coffey, Sr. and wife Sandi of South Sioux, NE, and Helen Walsh Arnette of Ferguson; brothers, Joshua Donald Coffey and wife Valerie of Conover and Braiden James Smith of Oakboro; sisters, Whitney Megan Smith and husband Jacob Hyde of Wilkesboro and Bridgette Coffey Duffy and husband Lindsey of Hickory; an aunt, Jenny Leigh of Ferguson; nephews, Elijah and Jaxon; and two nieces, Cara and Jasmyn. A funeral service to honor Scott’s life will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM conducted by Pastor Keith Gilliam. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends before the service, December 7, 2018, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
