Bennett Coffey was born circa 1779 in Wilkes Co., NC.434 He is found in deed of record on 9 February 1812 in Hawkins Co., TN .435 He appeared in the census on 1 June 1830 in Hawkins Co., TN.436 Bennett owned on 10 February 1834 in Big War Creek, Hawkins Co., TN.437 Bennett was involved in a land dispute in Hawkins Co., TN on 8 May 1835.438 He appeared in the census on 1 June 1840 in Hawkins Co., TN.439 He appeared in the census on 21 November 1850 in Hancock Co., TN.440 Bennett died before 1858.441 Bennett was probably a son of Benjamin, but no proof has been found. He and two of his sons (Joel and Caswell) lived near Benjamin on Big War Creek. Bennett was 71 in 1850. He was closely associated with Benjamin in Hawkins Co. on tax lists, witness to deeds, etc. Bennett Coffey and Sarah "Sally" Ferguson442 were married on 5 February 1805 in Wilkes Co., NC.443,444,445,446 There were other children born to this union, but their names are unknown.
