Lenoir – Janice Philyaw Laney Lowman, age 68, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on September, 18, 1946 to the late Walter J. Philyaw and Rosa Lee Crump Philyaw. She was affectionately known by her family as “Nanny Jan”.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Philyaw, daughter, Marti Laney and step-son, Eddie Laney.

She is survived by her children, Robin Philyaw and wife, Thelma; Wanda Anne Laney; Brenda Laney Webb, John Laney, Jr. and wife, Lucille; Angel Laney; Misty Stafford; brothers, Clyde Philyaw and Carroll Philyaw; sisters, Judy Hall, Cora Lea Morris, Martha Gragg, and Sharon Edmisten; her ex-husband, Wayne Laney;21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 6:00 until 7:30.

A graveside service will be held at Greene Cemetery on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Johnny Hicks, Pastor Aaron Causby and her grandson, Pastor Kevin Philyaw officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Church, Jeremy Davis, Philip Henry, Bradley Laney, Shane Laney, Buddy Rhoades, and Isaiah Patton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Edmisten, John Wayne Laney, Sr. and Jessica Kincaid.
