She was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Conover, N.C., to the late Rev. John C. Peeler and Sally Holshouser. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Reeves Coffey; sisters, Lois Robinson, Mary Stirewalt; and one brother, Leidy Peeler. Mrs. Coffey was a homemaker and active member of Zion United Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, James C. Coffey of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Camilla Stacy of Lenoir, N.C., and Mrs. Nicholas (Marjorie) Pence of Newton, N.C.; three brothers, J.C. Peeler, James Peeler and Caroll Peeler, all of Burlington; five sisters, Willie Sullivan of Lenoir, Rebecca Sherrill of Grace Chapel, Sara Bracewell of Hickory, Margaret Kesler of Georgia and Betty Bryan of Greensboro; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Belleview Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at the home of the daughter, Camilla Stacy.
