GRANITE FALLS Wilburn "Gaston" Coffey, 77, of Granite Falls, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Autumn Care in Drexel. Born Sept. 9, 1936 in Watauga County, he was the son of the late Alfred and Violet Crump Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Grayling Coffey; one brother, Roger Coffey;and one sister, Lura Jean Barnette. Mr. Coffey was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Virgie "Sally" Coffey of the home; one son, Talmadge Coffey of Icard; one daughter, Kelly Testerman and husband, Tracy of Hudson; one sister, Linda Yount and husband, Robert of Granite Falls; one stepdaughter, Olivia Anderson of Hickory; one stepson, Jeff Hamby of Granite Falls; one grandchild, Jessica Shook of Hudson;and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday, Dec. 12), at 3 p.m., at Bass-Smith Granite Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Whitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m., prior to the service at Bass-Smith Granite. Bass-Smith Granite is serving the family of Wilburn "Gaston" Coffey. Talmadge Gaston Coffey was born on 18 January 1963 in Catawba Co., NC. Talmadge died in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC on 7 January 2018 and a memorial service was held In Granite Falls, Caldwell Co., NC at Bass-Smith Chapel on 11 January 2018.
Talmadge Gaston Coffey, 54 of Granite Falls passed away at Carolina’s Medical Center, Charlotte.

Born January 18, 1963 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Wilburn Gaston Coffey and Nancy Hamby Norris of Icard. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Grayling Todd Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was of the Baptist Faith. He worked in the Furniture Industry and loved spending time in the outdoors.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Kelly Testerman and husband Tracy of Hudson; and niece Jessica Shook of Hickory; a special Aunt and Uncle, Linda and Robert Yount of Granite Falls.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, 4:00 p.m. at Bass-Smith Granite Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Gibbie officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at Bass-Smith Granite from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
