576. James Coffey was born in 1800 in Kentucky. He made his will on 2 March 1857 in Russell Co., KY.2426

In the name of God Amen: I James Coffey being in feeble health but of sound and disposing mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and certain approach of death do make and constitute this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all other will or wills by me heretofore made or declared either by word or in writing and this only to be taken and regarded as my last will, to wit,

First I do will and desire that my execution herein after appropriate do immediately after my decease sell off and dispose of all my personal property and collect all the debts and chores (?) in action that may be due and coming to me at my decease and out of the money & proceeds arriving there from pay off and discharge all my just debts and funeral expenses and the costs of executing this will and winding up my estate.

Second I do give and bequeath unto my beloved son Cyrus R. Coffey the tract of land on which I now reside containing 113 acres to have and enjoy the same forever subject to the right of dower therein to be holden by my beloved wife Mahala.

Third I do give and bequeath to my beloved son Anderson H. Coffey the trace of land containing 90 acres on which he now resides lying in Russell county on the waters of Greasey Creek to have and enjoy the same absolutely and forever Subject to the right of dower of my beloved wife.

Fourth It is my will and desire that all the residue and remainder of my estate of whatsoever nature or kind after satisfying the foregoing specific devises shall after the same has been reduced to money by my executors be equally divided between my three daughters Mary Louisa, Martha Ann and Matilda Evaline.

Lastly I do appoint my beloved sons Anderson H. Coffey and Cyrus R. Coffey my executors to execute this my last will and testament and do request them to do so without compensation or reward. March 2d 1857 James Coffey

I George Bryant clerk of the Russell County court do certify that the foregoing instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of James Coffey deceased was produced in the Russell county court on the 20th day of April 1857. James died of an ulcer circa March 1857 at the age of 57 in Russell Co., KY.2427 James' estate went to probate on 20 March 1857 in Russell Co., KY.

James Coffey and Mahala Coffey were married.

Some researchers question if this Mahala was the daughter of Fielding M. There is a marriage record in Barren Co., KY dated 2 May 1827 for a James Coffey to Mahala Russell.

They appeared in the census on 27 August 1850 in Russell Co., KY.2428,2429 Mahala Coffey, daughter of Fielding M. Coffey and Celia Coffey, was born circa 1803 in Kentucky.2429 She appeared in the census on 31 July 1860 in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY.2430

James Coffey and Mahala Coffey had the following children:
