HERNDON, Thomas T., 84, of Goochland, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas T. and Virginia C. Herndon; brother, Louie F. Herndon; and sister, Jean Rebecca Herndon.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Kilby Herndon; daughter, Debbie A. Herndon; grandchildren, Joshua Thomas Marks (Rachel) and Brooke Marks Shannon (Mike); great- grandson, Steven Max Shannon; brother, Horace L. Herndon (Mary); sister-in-law, Virginia H. Herndon; adopted family, Tammy Jo Martin and her family and J. Randall Myers and his family; and many nieces and nephews and their families. 

Tommy was a member of the National Guard. He was an assistant manager for Pep Boys for 27 years and worked in auto sales for 18 years. He was a member of Fine Creek Baptist Church in Powhatan, Va. for 28 years. Tommy lived his life with quiet dignity. He was a mentor to many and was loved, admired and respected by all who knew him. He especially loved hunting, fishing and the beach. 

The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 (today) at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rte. 60), Powhatan, Va. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Fine Creek Baptist Church, 3619 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan, Va. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fine Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
