Green appeared in the census on 24 May 1910 in Quay Co., NM.10517 He appeared in the census on 4 April 1930 in Russell Co., KY.10518 He made his will on 27 October 1942 in Russell Co., KY. He attached a Codicil to this will on Oct. 21, 1942, disallowing any inheritence by Shirley Temple Coffey, his child but alledged to be the child of one Willie Whittle.10519 Last Will & Testament of Green Moore Coffey Jamestown, Russell Co., KY, 27 Oct 1942 Extracted by Jack K. Coffee, Dec, 31, 2014 Found over three pages at http://bit.ly/1BisO7X Will I, Green Moore Coffey, of Jamestown, Russell County, Kentucky, do make and publish the following as my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me. Item 1. I direct that all my just debts and funeral expense be first paid out of my estate as quickly after my death as is possible. Item 2. I direct, will, bequeath, and devise to my children by my marriage to Alice Mae Coffey share, and share alike, each and every article of personal property, real property, and mixed property of any type, class or kind I may own at the time of my death. These said children to whim I hereby will all of my property as as follows; to wit: James F. Coffey, Elizabeth Fay Coffey, Cora Shina [sic] Coffey, Roscoe Ralph Coffey, and Shirlie Tempie [sic] Coffey. Item 3. I here designate, name and appoint L. G. Bernard of Jamestown, Kentucky, executor of this my last will and testament with full and complete authority to sell any lands herein willed, and all lands herein willed to my said children until the youngest reaches the age of 21 years; and I hereby give him full and complete authority to execute good and fee simple deed to any land thus sold; and convey to the purchaser complete and full title thereto. I grant and give this authority to my said executor herein to save costs of judicial sale, and thus permit my said children to sevure as much as possible out of my property; and make this authorization of sale of said lands, so that if my children were to become needy a speedy sale may be had to secure money for their care and support. The only restrictions I place on the power of sale herein granted, is that my said executor shall make a careful study of the needs of my children, and if he personally finds it to be that they need money on which to live, then he is directed and authorized to make this sale of any or all of said lands herein willed. Item 4. In case one of my above mentioned children should die without issue, then it is my will that the property herein willed to that said child shall go to the living children whose names have herein and already been stated. Given under my hand at Jamestown, Kentucky this the 27th day of October, 1942. Mitchell Codicil to Will I, Green Moore Coffey, do hereby change the beneficiaries to my will as shown on the reverse of this sheet of paper to exclude Shirley Temple Coffey from sharing in any part of my estate after me [sic] decease. I do this because Willie Whittle claims she is his daughter, and is now supporting her and keeps her as his own child. I don’t want her to have any part of my estate either personal or real. All the rest of the beneficiaries as outlined in my will are to take according to the will, and the settlement of my estate is to be as outlines in my original will. Hadley, clerk of the Russell county court, certify that the foregoing instrument of writing was on the 10th day of April, 1950, probated in open court as the last will and testament of Green Moore Coffey, deceased; and that I have duly recorded the same together with this certificate in my office. Hadley, clerk Marvin Coffey wrote that Green More Coffey, with third wife Alice Mae Brown, were parents of Elizabeth Faye Coffey who married David R. McQuilling and lived in Indianapolis, IN. Elizabeth, in her family genealogy, wrote that Hayes was "Nias Hays", but may have him confused with his brother, Ananias. Green Moore Coffey and Arvilla Gosser were married circa 1894 in Kentucky. They appeared in the census on 12 June 1900 in Russell Co., KY.10523 Arvilla Gosser was born on 19 November 1877 in Kentucky. She appeared in the census on 19 April 1910 in Russell Co., KY.10524 She lived with her son Cassius Coffey in Russell Co., KY on 28 April 1930. Arvilla died in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY on 25 January 1968 and was buried at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY on 28 January 1968 . Mrs. Arvilla Gosser Coffey fell Saturday, Jan. 20, in the home of a grandson, Edison T. Coffey, breaking a hip. She was taken to Somerset City Hospital, and died there the following Thursday, Jan. 25. Mrs. Coffey was 90 years of age this past November. She is survived by one son, Finley Coffey, Russell Springs, and by 23 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren, as well as a number of other relatives and many, many friends. Services were held in the Union Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 28, and were conducted by Bro. Roger Popplewell. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of Arrangements. Green Moore Coffey and Arvilla Gosser had the following children:
Green Moore Coffey and Elizabeth "Betty" Kimbler were married. Elizabeth "Betty" Kimbler, daughter of Joseph G. Kimbler and Sarah Isabell Jackman, was born on 28 August 1868 in Kentucky. Elizabeth resided with her brother Hiram and his family in Rowes Cross Roads, Russell Co., KY on 22 April 1910. She made her will on 27 December 1930 in Russell Co., KY.10525 I, Betty [sic] Coffey, do hereby make my last will and Testament. I will to my husband G. M. Coffey all of the property I own, except the land willed willed [sic] to me by my father Joe Kimbler, and known as the Joseph Kimbler Place to dispose of as he sees fit. Witnesses: State of Kentucky I, H. B. Popplewell, clerk of the Russell county court certify that at the January Term of the Russell County Court, 1931, the foregoing instrument of writing was produced for probate and record as the last will and testament of Bettie Coffey deceased which was read and upon proof heard, the same was adjudged to be the true and last will of the said Bettie Coffey, deceased, and was ordered to be recorded as such, where upon the same, together with this certificate have been duly recorded in my office. Witness my hand this Jan. 13th, 1931 H. B. Popplewell, Clerk. Green Moore Coffey and Alice Mae Brown were married. They appeared in the census on 11 May 1940 in Russell Co., KY.10527 Alice Mae Brown, daughter of Robert Brown and Iru (?) Ellis, was born on 26 June 1916 in Kentucky. Alice resided with her parents in Russell Co., KY on 4 April 1930. Alice died on 17 August 1979 and was buried at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN in August 1979 .10528 Green Moore Coffey and Alice Mae Brown had the following children:
