Marvin Coffey wrote that Joel died in Dangerfield [sic], Titus Co., TX. However, this town is now in Morris Co., TX. There is a Joel Coffey with the appropriate family in the 1850 Titus Co. census, dated Sep. 18, 1850 making suspect his August 1850 death date. Joel was a Private in the War of 1812 with the Kentucky Light Dragoons. His son Cyrus applied for his bounty land on Dec. 17, 1853 in Titus Co., TX, where they moved to from Jackson Co., AL. Joel Coffey and Mary "Polly" Knox were married on 5 January 1818 in Pulaski Co., KY.664,665 They664,665 appeared in the census on 18 September 1850 in Titus Co., TX.666 There were three other boys born to this union, but all died in infancy. In 1828 they moved to Alabama, where Joel received land for his service in the War of 1812. In 1844, they moved by boat to Mt Pleasant which was located in Titus Co, TX. This may be the Joel, Jr. and family found in the Aug. 7, 1820 Adair Co., KY census. Household consisted of 1 male <10; 1 male 26-44; 2 females < 10; 1 female, 16-25. Mary "Polly" Knox667, daughter of John Knox and Elizabeth Eoff, was born on 5 August 1798. She appeared in the census on 3 September 1860 in Titus Co., TX.668 The ages and birth locations of Mary and the children match those of like named wife and children of Joel. Mary resided with the George Baker family in San Saba Co., TX on 4 July 1870. Mary died on 6 December 1874 and was buried at Baker Family Cemetery in San Saba, San Saba Co., TX in December 1874 .669 Mary was the daughter of John Knox who was born near Belfast, County Antrom, Ireland. John came to America with his parents, James Knox and Elizabeth Craig, and brothers and sisters to Charleston, SC about 1761. John married Elizabeth Eoff of South Carolina on Feb. 13, 1789 in Madison Co., KY. Mary was born there. Joel Coffey and Mary "Polly" Knox had the following children:
