PATRICIA (PATSY) COFFEY WALKER

PORT LAVACA - Patricia (Patsy) Coffey Walker went to be with Our Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2016. She was born in Austin, Texas to James Ross Coffey and Esther Dierlam Coffey on January 23, 1923. Patsy was a graduate of Austin High and Texas State University. She also attended UT and Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana where she met Norman Walker of Atlanta, TX. They were married for 65 years. The family moved to Calhoun County in 1955. Patsy had a successful career as an elementary teacher. She remained active in Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma until recently. She enjoyed playing bridge, canasta and and Mexican Train with her grandchildren. She and Norman also enjoyed traveling around the country with their RVing groups. A faithful member of First Baptist Church for over 56 years, she also enjoyed their Jolly Elders group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman and her sister, Azile Coffey Bonneau.

She is survived by her children, daughter, Patricia Walker Burgoyne and husband Art of Diamondhead, MS and son Mike Walker of Port Lavaca and former daughter-in-law, Rhea Helmreich of Boonville, MO. Grandchildren CSM Cliffe Burgoyne and wife Kate of Ft. Campbell, KY, James Burgoyne and wife Anjele of Slidell, LA, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Burgoyne, currently serving in Saudi Arabia and wife Shanna of Hattiesburg, MS, Michael Walker and wife Cassandra of South Padre Island, TX, and SSG(P) James Walker of Ft. Richardson, AK. Granddaughters are Rhea Anne Walker Vickery and husband Bobbie of Port Lavaca, Doctors Sarah Elizabeth Walker and husband Joe of Buffalo, NY, and Patricia Louise Walker, ESQ. and fiancé Jonathan Sayegh, ESQ of Boston, MA. They are to be married on Saturday, October 22nd on South Padre Island. 11 great-grandchildren, 9 nieces and 4 nephews also survive her along with many Dierlam and Coffey cousins.

Visitation will be at Colonial Richardson Funeral Home in Port Lavaca from 7:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18 and from 12:30 until funeral time at the First Baptist Church on Thursday. Services will be held at 1:30 with burial following the service at Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials requested to First Baptist Church, 902 Calhoun St.,Port Lavaca, TX, Delta Kappa Gamma, Xi Epsilon Chapter, honorary teachers sorority, or any other charity of your choice.
