DALHART - J. W. BRANNON, 74, died Tuesday, October 28, 1997.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Everett Statler, pastor of Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Silverton Cemetery at Silverton.

Mr. BRANNON was born in Munday. He was raised in Silverton and graduated from Silverton High School in 1942. He graduated from West Texas State University and coached and taught school at Silverton, Meadow, Panhandle and Dumas. He coached a regional championship team in 1944.

He married Evelyn COFFEE in 1946 at Silverton.

Mr. BRANNON was a member of First Baptist Church of Dumas. He was a member and 32nd Degree Mason with the Silverton Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the Khiva Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Truett BRANNON of Dalhart; two brothers, Fred BRANNON and Seymour BRANNON, both of Silverton; a sister, Opal McCLURE of Silverton; and two grandsons.
