She attended schools in Amarillo, TX and graduated from Los Alamos High School. Ethel earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Texas State College for Women at Denton. She loved singing, directing and playing the organ. On October 20, 1956, she married Albert Jack Couvillion, Jr. in Los Alamos, NM. She taught in the Elementary Music Department at Los Alamos County schools from 1954 to 1957. Ethel also volunteered in various roles for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in Tucson, AZ including Troop Leader, Den Leader, Trainer of Leaders and Girl Scout Field Director. She also taught senior adults computer skills at Pima Community College in Texas. She is survived by her husband, Albert Jack Couvillion, Jr.; her sons, Laurence Couvillion of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Joseph Couvillion of Shreveport; and daughter, Ellen McLaughlin of Rolla, MO.
