WOMAN IS BURNED

Mrs. John Coffey of Red Fork, Okla., Fatally Burned Thursday by Gas Stove

Mrs. John Coffey, aged 23 years and well known here, was fatally burned Thursday at her home in Red Fork, Okla. She died the following day. The dreadful accident occurred when her clothing caught fire from a gas range.

The body was brought to Humeston Saturday. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Cambria Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. H. Perry. He was assisted by Rev. Orr Campbell. Burial was made in the Cambria cemetery.

The following obituary was furnished the New Era by Rev. Perry:

Edna Muse, daughter of C. W. and Emma Muse, was born near Cambria, Wayne county, Iowa, May 22, 1891, departed this life at her home in Red Fork, Okla., March 20, 1914. She was united in marriage with John Coffey, November 22, 1911, just two years and four months of wedded life. To this union no children were born. Her death was caused by an accident from her clothing igniting from a gas range. She bore her suffering bravely which was of several hours duration. Through which she neither murmured nor complained although terribly burned about the face and body. All that a loving husband and many friends and neighbors could do was done but to no avail. Her soul went to the God who gave it.

Edna became a Christian at the age of sixteen and united with the Baptist church at Corydon, later removing her membership to Cambria, where she remained a faithful member. In her quiet, unassuming way, she won the love and respect of all who knew her. She was ever ready to do what she could for the betterment of those with whom she came in contact and always willing to do her Master's will. She leaves to mourn a husband, father, mother, two sisters and a multitude of relatives and friends.
