PONTIAC -- Vada "Berniece" Tuley, 78, of Pontiac died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 17, 2005) at Livingston Manor Nursing Home, Pontiac.

Her service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pontiac Bible Church, Pastor Brian Bill will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church and go until the service.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac.

Memorials may be made to the Pontiac Bible Church building fund or the Pontiac Christian School

She was born March 2, 1947, in Russell Springs, Ky., a daughter of Robert Alvis and Elizabeth Genevieve Lapsley Coffey.

Berniece married Lowell Ray Tuley on Jan. 1, 1947, at Maplewood Baptist Church, Chicago. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert D. (Paula) Tuley, Woodlawn; and Donald R. (Donna) Tuley and Timothy L. (Esther) Tuley, both of Pontiac; one sister, Rose Brown, Pontiac; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Franklin Coffey and Morris Coffey; and two sisters, Evelyn Hayden and Lillie Dunahee.

She was member of Pontiac Bible Church.

Mrs. Tuley worked at State Farm Insurance, Farm Credit Bureau and Pontiac Correctional Center.

She attended Chase Grade School in Esmen Township, graduated from Odell High School and attended Moody Bible Institute for two years.

Lowell "Ray" Tuley, 87, of Pontiac, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Good Samaritan Home, Pontiac.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pontiac Bible Church with Pastor Brian Bill officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church or from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

Mr. Tuley was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Mount Pulaski, the son of Monta L. and Etta A. (LaMar) Tuley. He married Vada "Berniece" Coffey Jan. 1, 1947, at Maplewood Baptist Church, Chicago. She died Sept. 17, 2005. He later married Juanita Storey Nov. 25, 2007. She survives in Decatur.

He is also survived by three sons, Robert D. (Paula) Tuley, Woodlawn, and Donald R. (Donna) Tuley and Timothy L. (Esther) Tuley, all of Pontiac; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jeannette Nichols and four brothers, Ralph, Rondal, Monta and Jesse Tuley.

He was educated in Latham High School and attended Southern Illinois University.

Ray enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943, and was discharged in 1946. He served in the Pacific Theatre under Admiral Halsey's 7th fleet. His ship was in the invasion fleet that hit Layty Island in the Philippines on Oct. 20, 1944, as General Douglas McArthur returned to take the Philippines back from Japan.

He was a retired graphic arts instructor and had worked in printing for 40 years. Mr. Tuley was also a real estate broker and worked for a number of local agents. He owned and operated Ray Tuley Real-ty.

Ray was a co-founder of Pontiac Bible Church of which he and his family were members. It was founded on Feb. 26, 1968, at Washington and Chicago streets in Pontiac. Ray's first concern was to help others to know Jesus as savior. He'd rather talk about a heavenly home than to sell you one in Pontiac.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Pontiac.
