She was a Unicoi County native, having spent many years in Newport News, Va., before returning to Erwin in 1981. Mrs. Nidiffer was a daughter of the late Robert Gilliam and Mary Huskins Coffie. She retired in 1980 from the Newport News, Va., City School System after 12 years of service. Mrs. Nidiffer was a member of Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. Beals, in 1978; her second husband, John Nidiffer, in 1985; four brothers, Joe Coffie, Roy Coffie, Russell Coffie and Gus Coffie; and one sister, Deanie O'Brien. Survivors include one son, David Beals of Johnson City; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and David Sams of Jonesborough; six grandchildren, Kelly Sams and Anita Sams, both of Jonesborough, Katie Beals, Becky Beals, Sarah Beals and Harrison Beals, all of Johnson City; special friends, Ralph and Marie Tilson of Newport News, Va., and Blanch Sams of Erwin; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service for Mrs. Nidiffer will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday from the Erwin Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. James Cambron and the Rev. Brian Holloway will officiate. Music will be provided by Joyce Howard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Garland Cemetery. Family, ministers, and friends are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 217 Hulen Ave., Erwin. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 N. Boone St., Suite 1500, Johnson City, TN 37604.
