George died at Old Hwy 60 East in North Wilkesboro, Wilkes Co., NC on 8 June 1974 of head injuries when motorcycle ran off road throwing him into a road sign post. He was buried at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Windy Gap, Wilkes Co., NC on 11 June 1974 .^{30917,30918,30919}
