Floyd Menefee Utz, 70, of Culpeper died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. He was born June 8, 1947 in Washington, D.C. to the late Thomas and Bessie Gore Utz. Mr. Utz was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a very talented homebuilder. He was the owner and operator of Floyd M. Utz Construction Company. He also worked for Flippo Construction, the Coca-Cola Company, and retired from The Patriot Group in 2016. He loved playing golf, fly fishing with his brother, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Coffey Utz; two children, Melissa A. Carroll and her husband, Rod of Madison, and Floyd Michael Utz of Castleton; two grandchildren, Jennifer Carroll of Bumpass, Va. and Emily Carroll of Madison; and one brother, Thomas Wayne Utz and his wife, Lydia of Rixeyville. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Va. with Pastor Sandy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Monticello Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Pulmonary Unit, 750 East Pratt Street, 17th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202.
