She united with the Baptist Church at Mahalasville white a young girl during the pastorate of Rev. Goodman, always believing in 100% American principals and Christianity. She was united in marriage to John Nathan Elgin, May 30, 1888 at the age of 22 years. To this union were born three children, Bessie, who died suddenly of bold hives at the age of 20 months, and 17 days; two sons, Sidney Joseph and Fred. She was the sixth child of a family of either children, three of whom with her parents, have preceded her to that Heavenly Home above. The husband, John Nathan Elvin, and two sons Sidney Joseph of Indianapolis, and Fred, who had made his home with his parents, and one granddaughter, Thelma Katherine, the daughter of Sidney Joseph; two brothers, Phillip Coffey of Mahalasville and Willie Coffey, of Martinsville, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Beechem of Martinsville, and Mrs. Nellie Helton of Bethany, Mo., and a multitude of friends who mourn her loss, survive her. She was a very kind and affectionate wife and mother, always planning and wishing for the pleasure and welfare of her family and friends. She was a great lover of children, often having children and friends to meet at her home and enjoy hours of pleasure together. All the children knew her as "Aunt Liza: and were always glad to be about her as they knew that they were always welcome and that she enjoyed their company at all times. She was always anxious and willing to lend a helping hand in time of trouble or sickness among her many friends.
