(He had moved them from MasonCity, Iowa to find work during the war). Mom was 18 and Dad, 3 days shy of 21 when they married. Metha (McDavid) told me: "Your mom and I were the very best friends. She was my Maid of Honor and I was hers. Whenshe and your dad were married, Jim was the Best Man (Jim introduced them). They were married in the same church we were married in, in San Francisco in the Westlake area. Your dad's father (Sebia) lived in S.F.and had remarried (I cannot remember her name, but she was really nice.) Your mom and dad's wedding reception was at their house, and like our wedding, there were more sailors than civilians. During the wedding service I could hear a sobbing in the background somewhere. I thought it was Mr. Sackett because your mom was his only child. Not true at all, it was your (Teri's) Grandfather Bell. He hadn't seen your dad (Frederick)in ages and had been divorced and apparently left your grandmother (Vanita), but his emotions overtook him. I'll never forget that. It really wasn't a sad thing, his crying, it was more like comedy because I don't think he had been that close to your dad for a long time. Your mom and dad found humor in that, and we all really thought a lot of him. LaVonne Winifred Sackett, daughter of Mark A. Sackett and Nellie Winfred Walker, was born on 26 November 1927 in Mason City, Cerro Gordo Co., IA.⁴⁷⁴⁰⁷ LaVonne died in Arlington, Tarrant Co., TX on 8 March 1978.
