Coffey, 64, resident here since 1920 and owner of the Worth Radio and Appliance Company at 205 Main, died early Wednesday of a heart attack at his home, 3100 Littlejohn. A native of Omaha, Tx. Mr. Coffey retired several years ago because of his health. Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Cox Johnston, and two grandsons, Freddie and Donnie Johnston, Fort Worth; two sisters, Mrs. Nora E. Leeves, Dallas, and Mrs. Mary A. Ledbetter, Ennis; and two brothers, W.E. of Quanah and R. M. Coffey, Dallas. The funeral will be at 2 P.M. Thursday in the Gause-Ware Chapel, with Rev. W.D. Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at Dallas. Vanita said that Big Daddy built the first two-story home in Omaha,. It was the last house inside the city limits down Main St. from downtown (towards Naples just outside of town according to Thomas Beasley) on 5 acres. He owned a grocery store. Sybil Kimmell Beasley thinks Hugh Ben had a grocery store in Polytechnic, Tx. Does not remeber him owing one in Omaha,. Bill Stewart tells that his mother always had a huge garden and Hugh would come by to eat. (In those days the children would always eat last and if their parents did not put a chicken leg to the side the kids just got left out) Hugh would sit at that table and eat cornbread and water for a filler - he would eat fried chicken and vegetables and corn on the cob - "he could sure eat, man could he eat" and the kids would always worry if anything would be left for them. Bill remebers that they thought that Hugh was a wealthy man because he had hugh collections of everything. He had the body frame of an automobile with tires on it and pulled it with his mules. He go along the highway and pick up anything - he had a huge collection of bottles and other stuff. Hugh was actualy killed on the highway. Vassie died in Omaha, Morris Co., TX on 13 September 1904 and was buried at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha, Morris Co., TX in September 1904 .24807 Vassie was 22 years old when she died of Typhoid Fever after nursing her baby boy and causing him to die of Typhoid Fever.
