Mrs. Mamie Gladys Coffey Nuckoles Bryant, 88, widow of Samuel Gilbert Bryant, of 148 Beverly St. died at 10 a.m. Wednesday (June 6, 2001) in Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, She was born May 31, 1913, in Nelson County, a daughter of Floyd F. and Bertha Fitzgerald Coffey.

Before retirement in 1978, Mrs. Bryant was employed by Western State Hospital with 32 years of service.

She was a member of Grubert Avenue Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Juette Nuckoles; her second husband, Samuel Gilbert Bryant; a daughter, Ruby B. Britt; and two grandsons, Wayne and Dwight Bryant.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Norma Bryant of Raphine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Leona N. and James E. Livick of Verona, and Hazel B.
and James W. Petry of Winchester; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Henry Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. H. Wayne Collier. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Loyd Michael, Scott Petry, David Mitchell, William Michael, Charles Hodge and Ricky Botkin.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Shenandoah Valley Chapter, 284 E. Water St., Harrisonburg, Va. 22801.
