Dr. James L. Coffey, 87, of Emmetsburg, died Friday, June 15, 2007, in the Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg, from leukemia. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Holy Family Catholic Church, Emmetsburg, with Father Don Baustian celebrating. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Joyce Funeral Home, Emmetsburg.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanore (Smith) of Emmetsburg; children, Steve Coffey of Sterling, Va., Maggie Coffey of Emmetsburg, and John Coffey of Faribault, Minn.; and sister, Diana Halda of Washington, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lola (Oldaker) Coffey.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to the Five Island Lake Restoration Fund, c/o Iowa Trust and Savings Bank, 2101 10th St., Emmetsburg, IA 50536.

Dr. James Leo Coffey MD and Eleanore Irene Smith were married on 18 June 1944 in Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA. Eleanore Irene Smith⁸⁴³³, daughter of Cecil Smith and Pearl E. , was born on 17 May 1918 in Fremont, Madison Co., IA. Eleanore died in Emmetsburg, Palo Alto Co., IA on 10 November 2013 and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg, Palo Alto Co., IA in November 2013 .⁴⁶⁶⁰⁵
