Linwood Coffey of Lynchburg; four daughters, Madeline Walter of Waynesboro, Barbara Smith of Staunton, Joyce Barnhart of Grottoes and Betty Campbell of Lynchburg; three brothers, Everette Coffey of Waynesboro, Lewis Coffey of Staunton and Willard Coffey of Cornwall; three sisters, Arlene Lee of Hampton, Verna Dick of Waynesboro and Bertha Thomas of Cornwall; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the widow of Reuben Loyal Coffey. She was born in Amherst County Apr. 2, 1913, the daughter of the late Marvin Harrison Whitten and Hattie Pearl Stinnett Whitten. She was retired from the Central Virginia Training School where she worked as a nurse's aide and was a member of Lynchburg Wesleyan Church. Survivors include on son, Linwood Coffey of Lynchburg; four daughters, Joyce Barnhart of Grottoes, Barbara Smith of Staunton, Madeline Walter of Waynesboro and Betty Campbell of Lynchburg; one brother, Harrison Whitten of Lynchburg; five sisters, Lucille Nuckols of Richmond, Audrey Ogden of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Virginia Frances Ogden of Burkville, Ethel Kingsbury of Waynesboro and Mary Carol of Baltimore, Md.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Buren Whitten; a sister Cecil Nuckols; and a grandson, Michael Smith. A funeral service was held at Diguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev.
