Coffey, William S.

William S. "Bill" Coffey, age 69, of 1124 Tompkins Avenue, S.E., died Sunday, January 4, 1987, in a local hospital. He was a veteran of World War II 29th Division 116 Infantry and a lifetime member of the D.A.V.

Mr. Coffey was employed at the Roanoke Gas Company for 45 years.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Tanner Coffey; stepson, Neil E. Medley, Roanoke; father, Saylor M. Coffey, Sr., Roanoke; two sisters, Mildred Barger, Springhill, Fla.; Louse Staton, Yulee, Fla.; five brothers, Emery E. Coffey, Roanoke; Wilford M. Coffey, High Point, N.C.; Moda R. Coffey, Roanoke; Novell M. Coffey, Hampton; Saylor M. Coffey, Jr., Roanoke.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Kenneth L. Teague officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

COFFEY, Marjorie T., 83, of Roanoke, died Sunday, February 20, 2000. A native of Roanoke, she was a lifetime area resident. She worked at Roanoke City Mills for many years as a textile worker and was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Coffey; brother, Charles M. Tanner, Jr.; and sister Eleanor (Debbie) Akers.

She is survived by her son, Neil E. Medley; brother, Michael B. Tanner; sister, Phyllis (Pat) Pugh, all of Roanoke. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, special nephew, Jerry W. Tanner; and special friends Lisa, Sue and Margaret Ann.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at 3 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Father Randy Rule officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 22, 2000 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
