She was born June 8, 1915, in Cornwall, a daughter of the late Ruben Wetzel and Molly L. (Ward) Coffey. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Powers was employed by Stillwater Mills and as a seamstress. She was the oldest and current member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, and member of the United Methodist Women. She was a well respected member of the Churchville Community who touched many lives. She was loved and will be missed by all. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Coffey and Hunter Coffey; five sisters, Clara Armstrong, Easter Conner Calp, Nellie Heslep, Bessie Estes, and Frances Downey; and a son-in-law, Jay Hall. Family members include two daughters and a son-in-law, Belinda M. and Doyce McWhorter of Churchville and Dixie Lee Hall of Isom, Ky.; four grandchildren, Connie Fields and her husband, Donnie, Jay Hunter Hall and his wife, Mary Linn, Ladena Dodson and her husband, Paul, and Stefanie Bartley and her husband, Hunter; a special sister-in-law, Ann Huffer of Churchville; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Laurel Hall, Devan Bartley, and Brady and Zachary Dodson; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sherry Marshall, and her children, Justin Marshall and Julia Lewis. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, in the Glossbrenner United Methodist Church by the Revs. Adam Blagg and Bill Hinton. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Justin Marshall, Albert Parady, Wayne Strickler, Steve Huffer, Gerald Botkin, and Leon Bartley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the United Methodist Women of Glossbrenner. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
