She was born July 24, 1930 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Reverend Arnt Greer and Hazel Eggers Greer. She was a retired stock clerk for Appalachian State University and a member of Union Baptist Church. Mrs. Coffey is survived by one daughter, Martha C. Graybeal and husband, R.D., of Deep Gap; two sons, Sam Coffey of Boone, and Bill Coffey of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandchildren, Catherine Graybeal and Bobby Graybeal, both of Deep Gap; one sister, Nancy Jones and husband, Clyde; and one brother, Curtis Greer and wife, Jewell, all of Boone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene Coffey. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, Jan. 1, 2010, at 11:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 10:00 until 11:00 o'clock. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday morning, from 10:00 until 11:00 o'clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
