J. Coffey Sr. Dies Here at 70 Thomas Jefferson Cffey Sr., 70, of 2101 Kersey St., died last night at Wesley Long Hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks. Coffey, operator of the T. J. Coffey Welding Shop, was a member of Florida Street Baptist Church. He was a native of Lenoir but had lived here 35 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Bessie Mae Beach; a daughter, Miss Winnie Coffey of the home; two sons, Thomas J. Coffey Jr. and A. B. Coffey, both of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Christy of High Point, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Hanes-Lineberry Chapel with Rev. Woodrow W. Hill of Florida Street Baptist Church and Rev. Norman S. Carter of Glenwood Friends Church officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. The body will remain at the funeral home.
