He lived with his parents in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 30 April 1910. He registered for the WWI draft on 9 September 1918 in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC.18219 Collett lived with his parents in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH on 12 January 1920. He lived with his parents in Chicago, Cook Co., IL on 18 April 1930. Collett died as an inpatient of hepatic failure on 17 June 1979 at the age of 80 at Dr. Glenn R. Frye in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC and was buried at Bellview Cemetery in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC.18220,18221,18222

Collet C. Coffey

Collet C. Coffey, 80, formerly of Lenoir, died today in a Hickory hospital.

He was born Nov. 30, 1899, in Caldwell County, a son of the late James and Rachel Robbins Coffey.

He was the retired office administrator at Appalachian State University, a deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Boone, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lenoir.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, 11 grand-children, a great-grandchild, plus two aunts and many cousins in Lenoir.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone.

Collett Columbus Coffey and Frances Wren Reid were married on 20 September 1928 in Steel Creek, Mecklenburg Co., NC.18223 They18223 appeared in the census on 13 April 1940 in Mooresville, Iredell Co., NC.18224 Frances Wren Reid was born on 7 May 1902 in Pineville, Mecklenburg Co., NC. Frances died on 21 July 1995 at the age of 93 in Hinton, Summers Co., WV and was buried at Bellview Cemetery in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC.18225

Frances Coffey

Frances Reid Coffey, 93, of Boone, died Friday, at the Halstead's Care Home in Hinton, W. Va.

She was born May 7, 1902, in Pineville to the late Dr. William Kirkpatrick and Lola McAdams Reid. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Collett C. Coffey, and seven brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Coffey attended Queens College and was a graduate of Appalachian State University. She had taught third and fourth grade students in many schools and retired in 1978. She was a member of Boone Presbyterian Church, where she was elected as the first woman elder to serve the church, and she was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Mary) Veltman of Hinton, W. Va., and Mrs. Nelson B. (Carol C.) Soggs of New Hartford, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. John (Lola) Lafferty of Hickory; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Utica, N.Y., and Aug. 7 at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Christian Radio Fund, P.O. Box 238, Washington Mills, N.Y. 13479.

Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor, Inc. in Hinton, W. Va., is in charge of arrangements.
