Badly hurt, Coffey was moved to the nearby hospital, where he succumbed Monday morning. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow (Wednesday) at Springdale Mennonite Church with the Rev. Joseph Driver, assisted by Rev. Charles Grove, in charge.

Victim of the accident is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie Coffey and by the following brothers and sisters: Herbert, Davis, Lee, Perry Dodge, Wilson, Gilbert, Earl, Nellie, Mary and Polly, and by his father, Ernest Coffey.

Coffey was an active member of the Waynesboro Fire Company and pallbearers have been selected from that organization. Active pallbearers will be B. W. Herron, M. V. Worley, Z. O. Bashlor, George Brown, John Humphreys and Ballard Wade. Remaining members of the Fire Company and the Fire Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Active and honorary pallbearers have been asked to assemble at the Wayne Avenue Fire Station at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon 30 minutes before the time set for the funeral.

William Vanvert "Willie" Coffey and Hattie Belle Henderson were married on 19 May 1942 in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA.³⁰¹⁹⁷ Hattie Belle Henderson, daughter of Walter (Walker) S. Henderson and Willie Blanche Booth, was born on 1 October 1916 in Nelson Co., VA. Hattie died in Fishersville, Augusta Co., VA on 30 January 1999 and was buried at Rankin United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Augusta Co., VA on 3 February 1999 .³⁰¹⁹⁸
