LOVE-Odie Golden Demastus, 65, died at 11 last night at his home in Love where he had owned and operated his farm for a number of years. He was a member of the Sherando Christian Church.

Mr. Demastus was born Aug. 27, 1896, in Love a son of the late Luke and Anna Coffey Demastus.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Effie Ann Coffey Demastus; one son, Golden James Demastus of Love; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Jones of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Estie Sutton of Staunton.

The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until one hour prior to the service when it will be placed in the Sherando Christian Church where the funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Hatley A. Mabry, assisted by Dennis Harris. Interment will be in the Mt. Top Christian Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Eugene Everitt, Shelby Everitt, Saylor Coffey, Zandy Coffey, Jimmy Coffey and Thomas Coffey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Hewitt, Junior Coffey, Malcolm Coffey, Forest Coffey, John Coffey, Ray Coffey and Elmer Fix.

Odie Golden Demastus and Effie Ann Coffey were married on 4 July 1922 in Lyndhurst, Augusta Co., VA.¹³⁶⁹⁹ Effie Ann Coffey, daughter of John James Coffey and Lucy Ann Demastus, was born circa 1903 in Nelson Co., VA. She lived with her parents in Massies Mill, Nelson Co, VA on 21 April 1910. Effie died on 18 December 1990 at the age of 87 in Virginia and was also buried at Mountain Top Christian Church Cemetery in Love, Nelson Co, VA.^{13700,13701,13702}
