Obituary, Hickory Daily Record, Oct. 27, 2011 Paul Edward Coffey, 85, passed away Wednesday Oct. 26, 2011 at Frye Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Paul was born April 26, 1926 in Watauga Co., to the late Lloyd Edgar and Cordie Coffey. He was a member of West Hickory Baptist Church, a World War II Navy Veteran and retired from Hickory Chair Company. Surviving are his wife; Pearl Greer Coffey of the home; a daughter, Evelyn Coffey Bumgarner and her friend, Edward Price of Hickory; two sons, Jerry Coffey and his wife, Marie of Plano, Texas, Steve Coffey and his wife, Joyce of Hickory; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Coffey and her fianc‚, John Stuenkel of Charlotte, Taren Bumgarner of Salisbury; three grandsons, US Army Major Scott Coffey and his wife Dawn of Leavenworth, Kan., US Navy E 5 MM Second Class Trent Bumgarner and his wife, Lauren of Chesapeake, Va., Patrick E. Coffey of Plano, Texas, two step-granddaughters, Kristin and Sara Price of Mooresville; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 26 [sic] [Oct. 28], at 2 p.m. at West Hickory Baptist Church with the Pastor Scott Frady officiating. Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Military graveside honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #48. The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home. Obituary, Dignity Memorial and Hickory Funeral Home, Hickory, NC HICKORY— Pearl Greer Coffey, 90 of Hickory passed away peacefully at Catawba Regional Hospice on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Pearl was born in Watauga County on October 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Walls Greer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Edward Coffey and a number of brothers and sisters. She was a member of West Hickory Baptist Church. She retired as a food tech from Oakwood Elementary school. She is survived by her daughter Evelyn Coffey Bumgarner Price and husband Edward of Conover; two sons, Jerry Coffey and wife Marie of Plano TX, and Steve Coffey and wife Joyce of Hickory; two granddaughters Elizabeth Coffey Stuenkel and husband John of Charlotte and Taren Bumgarner of Salisbury; three grandsons, Major Scott Coffey US Army (Ret) and wife Dawn of Rutherfordton, US Boatswain Mate 1st Class, Trent Bumgarner of Charleston, SC and Patrick E. Coffey of Plano, TX; great granddaughters Cora and Ella Coffey of Rutherfordton; a brother Ronald Greer and wife Carol of Conover; two step granddaughters Kristen Price of Atlanta, GA and Sara Dombrosky and husband Joe of Boone and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Hickory Funeral Home. The funeral will held Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at West Hickory Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Frady officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
