Jordan was son of Emmanuel Hampton and Sarah Orilla Moreland. Rachel and Jordan were married in the home of Rachel's parents, Calton and Nancy Raines Coffey, in the Middle Fork Community and made their home in the Bamboo Community.
Jordan Hampton, son of Emanuel Hampton and Sarah Orilla Moreland, was born on 10 September 1856 in Watauga Co., NC. Jordan died of paralysis on 22 January 1935 at the age of 78 in Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Twp., Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Boone, Watauga Co., NC on 24 January 1935 in the Hampton Cemetery.^18487,18488
