FAMILY
CONNECTIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
COFFEY SURNAME
DNA PROJECT:
One
effort that I am extensively involved with is the Coffey/Coffee Surname
Project, which focuses on testing the y-DNA of Coffey males for genealogical
studies. Click on the hyperlink for more info.

WALKER
CONNECTIONS:
My
mother was a Walker. And while I found lots of researchers looking at my Coffey
family, I had a more difficult time with the Walkers. But I finally found the
patriarch of the family, and am now digging into anything I can find. And IÕve
begun getting some help from others as well. That patriarch is Robert Walker,
Esquire, who lived in Surry County, North Carolina. And you can find everything
I know about him at:

Within
this reference you will find several additional links to other reports I have
written. These include discussion and maps to try to pin down where he lived,
expanded discussion of a Walker DNA Project, and links to reports written by
others.
WALKER DNA:
And
VERY recently I have found DNA matches to my Walker family. Read the evolving
report on Walker DNA.
WALKER/COFFEY
CONNECTIONS
SURRY COUNTY,
NORTH CAROLINA:
The
above Robert Walker Esquire lived in Surry County. But in the process of digging for him I found that there
were other ancestors of mine living there. There were Walker, Coffey, Huff, Fulk, Arney, and Truitt Families
living there. Further, I became interested in the historical aspects of Surry
County, since that helped me understand the life and times of Robert Walker:
http://www.coffey.ws/familytree/familynotes/A3WalkerCoffeyConnections.htm
Let
me specifically mention the Coffey connection in the above. Living in Surry
County there was one James Coffee/Coffey. Further digging showed he is not a
direct ancestor of mine, but he is a distant cousin (He is 1C6R – a first
cousin, six times removed). And his story has connections to the above Coffey
DNA Project. His story is interesting, and it also adds some bits for those
trying to understand life in Surry County – he was a Constable there:

Further,
I got interested in slavery issues in Surry County, and that developed into:

COFFEY/CHENAULT
CONNECTIONS:
Now,
the search for James COFFEE above led to his mother Annister,
who was a daughter of Edward COFFEY. And Annister
later married a Chenault, and that led to a whole new
avenue of research. And thus I offer another report on
