Ruby Opal Chitwood, age 95 years, 7 months and 18 days, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the McCreary County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Rose and Rev. Randy Bates officiating. Burial was in the Sherd Dobbs Cemetery.
She was born June 27, 1916 in Wayne County, Kentucky to Albert Coffey and Lottie Denney Coffey. Ruby was a homemaker and a member of White Oak Junction United Baptist Church. She found pleasure in knitting, gardening, quilting, cooking, and fishing. She also enjoyed caring for her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Jesse Chitwood, sons, Wallace L. Chitwood and Robert Earl Chitwood, daughters, Mildred and Patricia, brothers, James Odell, Wallace, Harold , Earl, Clarence, and Wendell, and sisters, Thelma, Doris, and Oneeda.
Survivors include a son, Jesse Roger Chitwood and his wife, Luria, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, a daughter, Joan Marlow and her husband, Wayne, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, a sister, Joyce, seventeen grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren and thirty one great great grandchildren.
