She was born Feb. 8, 1933, in Burke County to the late Wilburn Carey and Jennie Woods Coffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas White Hartley Sr.; and two sisters. Mrs. Hartley was retired from Bernhardt Furniture Industries and was a member of Zacks Fork Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Thomas W. Hartley Jr. of Granite Falls; one daughter, Patricia Hartley of Lenoir; two brothers, Edgar Coffey of Lenoir and Wilborn Coffey of Morganton; four sisters, Shirley Kincaid, Coline Coffey and Mary Greene, all of Lenoir and Virginia Moses of Morganton; one grandchild; and one step grandson. The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at Zacks Fork Baptist Church with the Revs. Wayne F. Borders, Bobby Brooks and Wayne White officiating. The body will be in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
