She was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Caldwell County to the late Shuford F. Coffey and Claudia Kirby Coffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. McDade, and a sister. She was a retired school teacher for Whitnel Schools where she had taught for 31 years. She was a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College, a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, and a member of the W.E.L.C.A. Survivors include a daughter, Jada McDade Jones of Hudson; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Marcus Ollis officiating. Burial will be in the Hickman's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 until 2 p.m. at the church.
