Obituary, The Watauga Democrat, Apr. 18, 2003 Coffey, Ethel, V. Mrs. Ethel Vada Coffey, 79, of Ransom Street, Blowing Rock, died Tuesday afternoon, April 15, 2003, at Watauga Medical Center. She was born Nov. 8, 1923 in Watauga County, a daughter of Thomas and Alice Sanders Coffey. Mrs. Coffey was a member of Blue Ridge Advent Christian Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, Doug Coffey and wife, Ann, Dan Coffey and wife, Phyllis, and Dennis Coffey and wife, Sandra, all of Blowing Rock; three daughters, Emma "Snooks" Snell and husband, Don, of Baton Rouge, La., Alleine McLean and husband, Larry, of Matthews, and Betty Davis and husband, David, of Rock Hill, S.C.; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mary Lois McCroskey of Blowing Rock; and two brothers, Pete Coffey of Blowing Rock and Palmer Coffey of Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Woodrow Coffey; an infant daughter, Rebecca Kay Coffey; three sisters, Opal Coffey, Edna Mae Rich and Nancy Pearson; and two brothers, Floyd Coffey and Clint Coffey. Services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Advent Christian Church in Blowing Rock, officiated by the Rev. Gordon Noble, the Rev. Ronnie Jones and the Rev. Glenn David Luttrell. Burial followed in the Boone Fork Community Cemetery. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home is serving the Coffey family.
