Jackie Carlies Coffey was born on 28 August 1941 in Watauga Co., NC.¹⁹⁶⁵¹ Jackie, age 55, died at Frye Regional Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident on 29 July 1997 in Sawmills, Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.^19652,19653 Fatal accident reported Sawmills - Alcohol and speeding were contributing factors in the death of a Granite Falls motorist Tuesday, the State Highway Patrol reports. Jackie Carlies Coffey, 55, of Granite Falls died at Frye Regional medical Center in Hickory yesterday morning at approximately 11:15 a.m. as a result of injuries sustained in a one-car traffic accident at approximately 4:30 p.m. Trooper D. C. Lovette investigated the accident. He reported Coffey was traveling east on Dry Ponds Road at approximately 60 mph when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the road. The 1986 Toyota truck then swerved across the road, into a yard and struck a tree. In his report, Lovette reported there was a strong odor of alcohol about the driver. A blood alcohol sample was drawn, but the results of that test were not available this morning.

Wayne died on 3 January 1989 at the age of 46 in Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL and was buried at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.^19654,19655 Mr. Wayne Coffey Mr. Wayne Coffey, age 46, of Jacksonville, Florida, and a former resident of the Blowing Rock area, died Tuesday afternoon, January 3. Mr. Coffey was born November 9, 1942 in Granite Falls, a son of Mrs. Verdola Coffey and the late Paul Carliss Coffey. He is survived by two sons, Joseph Coffey and Peter Coffey, both of Jacksonville; his mother, Mrs. Verdola Coffey of Boone; two sisters, Mrs. Wanda White of Granite Falls and Mrs. Lena Lanacone of Charlotte, and four brothers, Dewey Coffey of Rhodkiss, Jackie Coffey of St. Augustine, Fla., Ronnie Coffey of Granite Falls and Michael Coffey of Bethlehem. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Services for Mr. Coffey were conducted Tuesday, January 10 at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel in Boone, officiated by the Rev. Murray Coffey and the Rev. Greg Carswell. Interment followed in the Boone Fork Community Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Boone Fork Community Cemetery fund, in care of the Rev. Murray Coffey, Route 1, Box 64B, Blowing Rock, N.C. 28605. Hampton Funeral Service was in charge of Arrangements. ----- There are two divorce records for Frank Wayne Coffey in Duval Co., FL. The first was for a marriage in June 1968 and a divorce that same month and year from wife Betty L. Coffey. The second is for a marriage on Feb. 1, 1979 to a spouse named Nora - no surname given - and a divorce on the same month and year.
