He was born Feb. 6, 1925, in the Boone Fork community of Watauga County, to the late Roby Leonard and Cenia Hatley Rich. Mr. Rich was a retired rock mason from Lloyd Robbins Construction Company and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include six daughters, Betty R. Sharpe, Shirley Hollars and husband, Lewis, and Ms. Roberta Brookshire, all of Lenoir; Ms. Mary Ann Gonzales of Farmington, New Mexico, Frances Laws and husband, J. L., and Martha Ford and husband, Bud, all of Boone; four sons, Gaither Rich, Leonard A. Rich, Jr., Paul Rich and Johnny Rich, all of Blowing Rock; two stepsons, Frank Coffey of Blowing Rock and James Price of Creston; four sisters, Ms. Elizabeth Rich and Ms. Jane Crisco, both of Landia, Jenny Echard and husband Harold, of Hickory and Ms. Pearl Crandall of Lenoir; three brothers, Calvin Rich of Blowing Rock; Jesse Rich of Lenoir and Richard Rich of Hudson. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Coffey Rich; a son Robert Rich; a granddaughter, Angela Hollars; four brothers, Earl Rich, Henry Rich, Spencer Rich and Herman Pearson; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Trivette and Mrs. Frances Burns. Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Boone Fork Baptist Church. The bidy will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Officiating will be the Redv. Darrell Miller, Dr. Sonny Younce and the Rev. Gary Shew. Burial will follow in the White Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6-8:30 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Service. At other times, friends may call at the home of Shirley and Lewis Hollars, 4984 Blowing Rock Blvd., Lenoir. She lived with her parents in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 15 April 1930. Rosie died of endocarditis and cardiorespiratory arrest on 9 February 1971 at the age of 46 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC and was buried at White Springs Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 11 February 1971.35527,35528 Obituary, unnamed periodical, unknown date Mrs. Leonard Rich Mrs. Rosie Annalee Rich, 46, Route 8, Lenoir, died Tuesday in a Winston-Salem hospital. Mrs. Rich was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Avery County, the daughter of Mrs. Ella Mae Loudermelt Coffey of Lenoir and the late Tom Coffey. She was a member of Boone Fork Baptist Church in Watauga County. Surviving are he mother; her husband, Leonard A. Rich; six daughters, Mrs. Betty Sharpe of Taylorsville, Mrs. Shirley Hollars, Route 8, Lenoir, and Mary Ann Rich, Francis Rich, Roberta Rich and Martha Rich, all of the home; five sisters, Mrs. Zudie Hatley, Mrs. Arizona Coffey, Mrs. Cordie Coffey, Mrs. Epsie Coffey and Mrs. Dollie Coffey, all of Lenoir; five brothers, Arlie Coffey of Boone, and Clinton, Abner, Lewis and Johnny Coffey, all of Lenoir; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Boone Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Holshauser. Burial will be in White Springs Cemetery. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home at Boone, where the family will be from 7 to 9 o'clock this evening, and will be placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral.
