William Ray Coffey, son of Lanese Tuttle Coffey and Ethel Roxie Lovelace, was born on 5 May 1923 in Cherokee Co., NC.³²⁶⁶⁵ He lived with his parents in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 23 April 1930. William enlisted in the on 27 December 1941 at Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., NC.³²⁶⁶⁶ William died on 11 May 1977 at the age of 54 in Buncombe Co., NC and was buried at Littlejohn Methodist Church Cemetery in Gamewell, Caldwell Co., NC.^{32667,32668,32669}
