Grady Franklin Turnmire, 83, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Turnmire was born in Watauga County on December 10, 1927, to the late William Lee Turnmire and Mamie Coffey Turnmire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, William and Vilas Turnmire; two sisters, Nina and Pauline Turnmire Coffey; and grandchildren, Jennifer Wolfe, John Turnmire, Holly Haynes; and a step-great grandchild, Connor Bollinger.

He was retired from Broyhill Furniture. He loved deep sea fishing and loved his cattle.

Survivors include his wife, Allene Greer Turnmire of the home; his sons, Kenneth Turnmire and wife Sheena Shepherd, Jeff Turnmire and wife Cindy, Tony Turnmire and wife Barbie, and Greg Turnmire and wife Kathy; his daughters, Rita Mitchell and husband Wade, Margaret Carlton and husband Larry, and Sherry Wolfe and husband Johnny; a sister, Lucille Sherrill and husband Ray; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, November 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Pendry's Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert McCoy and the Rev. Wade Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Pendry's Funeral Home from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Wolfe, Charles Turnmire, Alan Sherrill, Gary Sherrill, John Greene and Jeffery Dale Turnmire. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Laws, Matthew Turnmire, Jackson Greene, Hunter Turnmire and Rigo Solano

The Turnmire Family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the Patterson Fire Department, 1414 Yadkin River Road, Lenoir, NC 28645. Flowers will be appreciated.
