Gragg, daughter of Abner Phillips and Lee Ella Gragg, was born on 31 January 1894 in Mortimer, Caldwell Co., NC. She lived with her parents in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 18 June 1900. She lived with her parents in Wilson Creek Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 16 April 1910. Orpha died in Edgemont, Avery Co., NC on 6 February 1917 of septicemia and was buried at Gragg Cemetery in Gragg, Avery Co., NC on 8 February 1917 .36879,36880,36881 Orpha's death certificate names Abner Phillips of Caldwell Co., NC as her father.

Callie Ella Hollander was born on 2 February 1917 in Avery Co., NC. She lived with her maternal grandparents in Pineola, Wilsons Creek Twp., Avery Co., NC on 13 June 1940. Callie died in Avery Co., NC on 27 January 2006 and was buried at Tanglewood Cemetery in Linville, Avery Co., NC in January 2006 .36885

Callie Hollander Foster, 88, of Linville, died Friday, January 27, 2006. 

A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late John B. Hollander and the late Orpha Gragg Hollander. A home maker and mother, she was a Charter Member of the Church of Jesus in Linville. A devout Christian, Callie had a very close and personal relationship with her Lord and Savior. She could always be depended on to be at the church during any activity, especially those involving eating. She loved Spiritual and Gospel Hymns and she would read her bible at every chance. 

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Crossnore Chapter. Callie was very active in helping the Linville Volunteer Fire Department with fund raising. She cherished the opportunity to be of help to friends and neighbors. She loved to cook, knit, crochet, and enjoyed bird watching. Callie delighted in her family and friends, putting others before herself, she was a living example of what she believed. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glendon Monroe Foster in 1975; brothers, Roadman Hollander, Ivory Hollander; sister, Lockie Rominger; and her maternal grandparents, Larkin and Ella Gragg, who raised Callie from a baby, when her mother passed away during childbirth. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, four daughters, a son, two sisters, a brother, an aunt, thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. 

Services were held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, from the Grandfather Chapel of the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Interment was at Tanglewood Cemetery on Monday, January 30.

The father of Paul Coffey is unknown.

The last two children of John and Lettie have questionable birthdates. The 1930 census lists William as 9 months old; Frank never appears in the census. The only way we know who his parents were is from his obituary.

After Lettie's death, John Hollander put his youngest children into a home called Crossnore. The Crossnore School began as a school in 1913 when there were only one room schoolhouses in Avery County. When public education became available for all children, Crossnore leaders refined their role to care for orphaned, abandoned, abused and neglected children. Those children also attended public schools. Lettie Mae Coffey, daughter of James Burgess Coffey and Margaret Lagustia Gragg, was born on 2 August 1890 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC. She lived with the William H. Clark family in Wilson Creek Twp., Avery Co., NC on 19 April 1910.

Lettie was the first cousin to Monroe Coffey who married Dovie J. Clark, a daughter of William H. Clark Lettie died of heart failure on 31 July 1929 at the age of 38 in Roseborough, Avery Co., NC and was buried at Hollander Family Cemetery in Roseborough, Avery Co., NC on 2 August 1929.20555,20556
