S. M. Woodie

Sam Monroe Woodie, 67, of Jonas Ridge died Monday in a Crossnore hospital after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Jonas Ridge Baptist Church, Rev. Roby Painter and Rev. Herbert Pritchard officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mae McCrosky [sic] Woodie; three sons, Odis Woodie of Linville Falls, Ray Woodie of Jonas Ridge and Ernest Woodie of Charlotte; two daughters, Mrs. Zeb Franklin and Mrs. Pauline Carpenter, both of Jonas Ridge; two brothers, Alfred Woodie of Jonas Ridge and John Woodie of Lenoir; three sisters, Mrs. Janie Coffey of Lenoir, Mrs. Lucy Webb of Pineola, Mrs. Linda Dellinger of Bandy Town, West Virginia; 18 grandchild{ren] and eight great-grandchildren.
