John made his will on 11 August 1825 in Wilkes Co., NC.131 John died in Wilkes Co., NC after 11 August 1825. John's will was proven in January 1826 in Wilkes Co., NC.132 John Coffey and Mary "Polly" Hall (Hull?) (Harbord?) were married between 1773 and 1774, probably in Albemarle or Amherst Co., VA. There are few records documenting the life of John. He settled in Wilkes Co., NC where his children were raised, and where he died. His wife was apparently named Mary (Polly), but nothing further is known. A Rev. War pay voucher dated Jun. 26, 1784 is said to be for this John Coffey. James is attributed with the remark that he had two sons and one son-in-law who served in the war. The sons might be John and Reuben, and the son-in-law Mastin Durham. But Robert Whiteside, another son-in-law, served. Sons Ambrose and Eli may also have served. There are several inconsistencies in this genealogy. This John and Mary (Polly) Coffey may not be the parents of the children named herein. Mary "Polly" Hall (Hull?) (Harbord?)133 was born on 18 December 1755. John Coffey and Mary "Polly" Hall (Hull?)
