Ruth Clark Rader (Annie Ruth Clark), a resident of Alpharetta, GA, passed away on May 14, 2009 at Northside Hospital in Forsyth County, GA.

Mrs. Rader was born on Jan. 19, 1920 in Avery County, North Carolina to the late Charles and Lois Carpenter Clark. Mrs. Rader was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Roy Clark, and three sisters, Mildred Pritchard, Ruby Pritchard and Inez Beane. Surviving sisters are Margaret Hartley, Mary Frances Mikeal, and Fushia Gragg. She graduated from Collettsville High School and later received a degree in nursing from Caldwell Community College. She worked as an LPN at Caldwell Memorial Hospital for many years.

Ruth was married to the late Frank Philyaw, who died serving in France in World War II. They had one daughter, the late Doris Evelyn Philyaw Palazzolo who was a resident of Carson City, Nev. Ruth was married to Ervin Dennis Rader in 1947 and had three sons, Ed Rader of Cumming, Ga., Eric Rader of Lynhurst, Ohio and Richard Rader of Social Circle, Ga., and one daughter, Grace Weaver of Warrensville, N. C. Mrs. Rader had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rader was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church in Lenoir, N. C., where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the Joy Choir. Ruth was a former Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star. She was an avid reader and gardener.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel in Lenoir conducted by the Rev.

David Everett and Dr. Keith Franklin. Interment will follow with a private service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
