Mrs. Rachel Lottie Coffey, 82, of 102 Indian Branch Lane, passed away Monday, November 28, 2005 at 6:00 AM at her residence. She was born November 5, 1923 at Love the daughter of the late Rufus N. and Eliza Coffey Campbell. She retired from the former Del Monte of Crozet and was a member of the Rockfish Baptist Church.

She loved to garden and was known for her humor and most of all her kindness. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Brent Coffey, a son, Glenwood Hugh Coffey and a sister Juanita Sprouse. Survivors include two daughters, Mildred L. Coffey and Betty Huffman, both of Afton, one brother, Herman Campbell of Roseland, five sisters, Barbara Keller of Hellam, PA, Vivian Burg, of Columbia, PA, Edith Campbell of Roseland, Hazel Fitzgerald of Waynesboro and Evelyn Baber formerly of Afton, two grandchildren of which she helped to raise, David Wayne Coffey and his wife Wanda and Vivian Louise Davis and her husband Lee, five additional grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the Church of the Blue Ridge in Afton with the Rev. Whitney Critzer officiating. Burial will follow at Rockfish Baptist Church in Nellysford. Active pallbearers will be David Wayne Coffey, Lee Davis, Gabriel Davis, John Harvey Falls, Kenneth Huffman and Craig Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friend attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM this evening at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Blue Ridge, Critzer Shop Rd., Afton, VA 22920. "
 

Lottie Rachel Campbell and Hugh Brent Coffey were married on 26 August 1943 in Nelson Co., VA.30030 Hugh Brent Coffey, son of Massie Franklin Coffey and Siddie Bell Campbell, was born on 10 May 1916 in Montebello, Nelson Co., VA. Hugh died on 10 January 1987 at the age of 70 at Waynesboro Community Hospital in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA and was buried at Rockfish Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Nellysford, Nelson Co., VA.30028,30029

AFTON - Brent H. Coffey, 70, of Rt. 2, Afton, died Saturday morning (Jan. 10, 1987) in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born at Montebello May 10, 1916, a son of Massie Franklin and Siddie Bell (Campbell) Coffey.

He was a member of Rockfish Valley Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rachel L. (Campbell) Coffey; two daughters, Mildred Louise Coffey and Betty Ann Huffman, both of Afton; three brothers, Davis Franklin of Alexander, Paul Hardy of Staunton and Erskin Hop Coffey; three sisters, Mrs. Loraine Fitzgerald of Stuarts Draft, Mrs. Jenittey Fitzgerald of Charlottesville and Mrs. Gladys Bradley of Greenville; seven grandchildren; five great-grand-children; and a number of nieces and nephews.
