At some point in time Wiley, and other members of his family began to spell their surname Coffia. Wiley's headstone is said to bear the name Wiley C. Coffia.

Based on California death records as well as the Social Security Death Index, it appears that Wiley did not legally change the spelling of his last name.

Annie died in Corcoran, Kings Co., CA on 15 June 1970. Corcoran Memorial Park in Corcoran, Kings Co., CA in June 1970 .²²⁴⁷⁴
