657. Logan McMillon Coffee^2775,2776 was born on 7 December 1809 in Adair Co., KY. He appeared in the census on 1 June 1840 in Marshall Co., AL.²⁷⁷⁷ 1846 to 1851 and 1857 to 1858 he was on the tax rolls in Colorado Co., TX.⁵⁰⁰

Logan might be the "Coffee" who appeared on the 1874 tax roll in Colorado Co., TX as "Coffee & Darby." He appears again in 1876 as "Coffee & Griffin" (Griffin is questionable, see original record.) In 1881 appears a "Coffee and Son Mecd" and in 1884 as "Coffee and Saud....?" See original document. Logan died and is thought to be buried at on 20 June 1865 at the age of 55 in Texas, between Brownsville and Lavaca Co. His body was never found. Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Hackberry, Lavaca Co., TX in June 1865 .^2778,2779

While it is unknown exactly where Logan is buried, a thoughtful relative placed this double marker here sometime between 2003 and 2016. Logan's wife, Mary Ragland Coffee is buried here.

(2) Logan and Mary Coffee's son, William D. Coffee, was the youngest of theirs to claim Texas birth.

Some things about Logan that have been stated in secondary sources for decades and which may be true, but further study of source documents needs to be made:

It is claimed Logan had a middle name of McMillan. (Am looking for source documents and early narratives by Logan descendants; will update when located). [From tax rolls, we know his middle initial was M]

It is claimed Logan was born in Adair County, KY. This is very possible but as much as this family moved, and as few times as Logan's parents show up in actual records, this needs more investigation. We know Logan's parents were married in Adair Co., KY in early 1804.

Logan McMillon Coffee and Mary Elizabeth Ragland were married circa 1837 in Jackson Co., AL. They appeared in the census on 12 September 1850 in Colorado Co., TX.²⁷⁸⁰ They²⁷⁸⁰ appeared in the census on 23 July 1860 in Lavaca Co., TX.²⁷⁸¹ Mary Elizabeth Ragland⁹⁶ was born on 15 January 1815 in Jackson Co., TN.²⁷⁸² She appeared in the census on 7 July 1870 in Lavaca Co., TX.²⁷⁸³ Mary died in Hackberry, Lavaca Co., TX on 15 January 1879 and was buried at Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Hackberry, Lavaca Co., TX in January 1879 .^{2782,2784,2785}
