She was born March 7,1916 in Amherst County, a daughter of H. W. and Mary Higgenbotham Coffey. She was a charter member of Wayne Hills United Methodist Church; an office manager for Associated Physicians; and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, L. Kersey Ray in 1982, three sisters, and four brothers. Surviving are her three children, Sarah J. Leech, Martha R. Dalton, and Stephen K. Ray, all of Waynesboro; two sisters and two brothers; and six grandchildren. A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at Augusta Memorial Park by Dr. W. Coffey, of Alto, Amherst County, to Lynch Kersey Ray, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Ray, of Buchanan, took place October 16 at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Crist, in Lynchburg. The Rev. John T. Scarborough, of Disputanta Methodist Church, officiated. Mrs. Frank Humston, of Roanoke, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and Wily Bransford Coffey, brother of the bride, was best man. The couple will live at Buchanan. Lynch Kersey Ray, son of Columbus Washington Ray and Josie Bramblett Kersey, was born on 29 August 1912 in Cambria, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., VA. Lynch died at Waynesboro Community Hospital in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA on 8 December 1982 of an acute myocardial infarction and was buried at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA on 10 December 1982 .42424,42425,42426 |
