He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Myers Coffey. Born May 7, 1918 in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Hiter Webster and Mary Higgenbotham Coffey. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and a retired employee from the DuPont plant in Waynesboro. He is survived by a daughter, Ella Sue Coffey of Amherst; two sisters, Helen Keith of Agricola and Hazel Humston of Roanoke; and a brother, Hiter R. Coffey of Amherst. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Adam White and the Rev. James Draper officiating. Burial followed in the Amherst Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Driskill Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
